Hello everyone,
I'm not sure what you've heard but we were approached by our STs after our last game regarding a "possible" merger of our games. I personally know nothing of the MR games hence I wanted to come over here and say hello to start with and see how everyone is doing on here. :) I hope that maybe sometime to come to your game and at least meet some of you people since I have no idea who you all are. :)
Please feel free to come to our board www.lshoanharah.com/newforums/ and see what we've been talking about. I would love to hear from more of the MR players regarding the questions we've posted.
Thanks for your time.
Mina

Re: *Greetings* from a player in "That other game" :)
Thu, April 26, 2007 - 8:51 AMThese rumors float around everyonce in awhile. I've been out of town so haven't heard anything recently.
Many players (ST's) from each game are from the old ISTG LARP which ran for 8 -10 years. For whatever reasons there was a split a few years ago (differences of opinion on how the game should run mostly).
We have run a few coop games during special events for each of the games.
I think it would be interesting for the games to merge, but I know for a fact they are very different games and it would be a lot of work to do it.

Re: *Greetings* from a player in "That other game" :)
Fri, April 27, 2007 - 11:20 PMI remember ISTG when it started a long ass time ago and it was one of the first games I played in when I first learned to LARP. I also used to play in the "old" school Cam fan club (yes one of those) but got better. Then played in OWBN, was even a Coord for them for 2 yrs. :) (but then I got better from that too.. ;op)
Honestly I would love to see the two games at least play amicably (god did I spell that right?) and together (maybe not as one game, but maybe as a merger of the two "worlds")
Everyone has ego's involved around this and honestly I'm not sure what the deal is LOL but then again I've never played with everyone either in LH or MR. :) So I'm un-bias.

Re: *Greetings* from a player in "That other game" :)
Sat, April 28, 2007 - 3:19 PMTo me it's not so much the character sheets that are important, it's what is the "history of the world". People have been so stuck on "New Jerusalem" in ISTG/MR or playing in the "real world" as in LH for so long it would be a "I want it my way" scenerio.
Personally, I'm a tradition VtM player.. they built a good game and didn't change as either game has changed for reasons (although there are somethings that definetly are... um.. wonky)

Re: *Greetings* from a player in "That other game" :)
Mon, April 30, 2007 - 6:53 PMWe have discussed this before and yes it would be interesting... I have friends in LH and would love to RP with them and get to know those I have only met once or twice.. the LH group seems a good lot.. I know we of the MR group do love New J as a setting, I for one could be persuared away from the city.. we have many cities here in th enorth bay that we can use.. even our own Santa Rosa... and after reading this thread I agree with most of what has been said.. Ethan and Jake both have been at this game longer than I and have more knowledge about what has gone before.. but there are alot of newer players in our game and we are trying to create a history of our own.. not to step on the toes of those old timers but we would like to make our presence known.. a merger would be interesting as I said.. and there are a few others that would agree.. we have discussed it in an ST meeting recently, and there was no definitive answer.. we just discussed it.. and there were pros, and cons... we shall see if anything comes of it...

Re: *Greetings* from a player in "That other game" :)
Thu, April 26, 2007 - 11:39 AMI agree with Ethan, they are very different games. Merging the two, while possible would be a bit of a square peg in a round hole.
That however does not mean that we can't enjoyed each other's company on a more frequent basis, via special events. I for one had a blast at the gypsy ball and playing a visitor from Verona Beach.

Thu, April 26, 2007 - 1:14 PMEven reseting everything (which, um, I'd love to do sometime) and merging would be difficult and probably not well recieved.
Lots of Ego involved too I think on both sides.

Re: *Greetings* from a player in "That other game" :)
Fri, April 27, 2007 - 11:23 PMyeah I'm actually not ok w/ a reset,(mainly because we just did one and it wouldnt be fair to our current players in LH that just made new characters and concepts) However I think that it's possible to "tone down" sheets to make them fit into a world that has a lower power base for those who have been playing along time. I mean I understand the paper dick, but really.... there is no need for roleplaying to have that large of a dick unless you just want to "Rollplay"
:)
I like to use the word dick... can you tell.

Re: *Greetings* from a player in "That other game" :)
Sun, May 27, 2007 - 4:13 AMDidn't see this until now.
There are some differences in the way each game plays, but, honestly, it's not as much as you would think. I fully believe that a merger would only make the game stronger. Give us all more diversity. Open more possibilities. Provide more roleplaying opportunities.
The question of how to make it work is really academic. If both sides approach it with an open mind and a willingness to make it work, then I think we'll be able to make it work.
Right now the ST's of both games are throwing ideas around. We'll see what comes out of it. Really, what I feel, however, is that it is up to the players to decide. Ultimately, it is their game---or games, as the case may be. What we as the ST's are trying to provide right now is a proposal of how a merger of the two games might come about and how it might work. So we welcome all of your oppinions. It was great before when we all played together. Those of us who were there know how it was, and how it could be again. What we are all looking for here is to make the game better, not to take anything away from each other. I haven't been to this site for a while, but if anyone has any comments/questions, I will do my best to come here more regularly and answer them.
Thanks,
Chris

Re: *Greetings* from a player in "That other game" :)
Fri, June 8, 2007 - 10:26 AMWell I'm a greedy little thing and like having my cake and eat it too. I kind of like having the two different styles to bounce back and forth between. I have heard you guys are making some changes in general with or with out merger is what I'm kind of curious about? -

Re: *Greetings* from a player in "That other game" :)
Sat, June 30, 2007 - 7:34 AMThe only changes we are making is rules wise. After seeing some of the rules changes/addendums the other game has been using, we've discovered that some of them will work for us, too. -

Mon, September 24, 2007 - 9:38 PMhow ever you want to take it. I think it would be a great idea to test both sides.
